LakeAmerica.blog is not affiliated with the U.S. government, the Government of Canada, any political campaign, Google, Apple, or MapQuest. We are an independent editorial and travel website.
Sources and verification
- We prefer primary sources: executive orders, agency pages, and official corporate announcements.
- When primary sources are unavailable, we cite major wire services or national reporting.
- We label every naming claim with a last-verified date.
- We do not publish unverified AI-generated news or social-media rumors.
Neutrality
We describe the naming dispute without advocating for one side. We do not mock either country or treat the name change as a partisan issue. Our tone is curious, factual, and useful.
Corrections
If a fact changes or we make an error, we update the page and adjust the last-verified date. We do not silently edit claims that materially affect the story. Where a published story changed after the fact, the correction appears on the story itself, labelled as a correction rather than folded into the text.
How dates work on this site
- Published is the day the event happened or the story went up.
- Updated is the day we last edited the story text.
- Facts re-checked is the day we last confirmed the claims against their sources.
We deliberately avoid a single sitewide “everything verified today” stamp. Each story, tracker row and adoption row carries its own re-check date, so nothing looks fresher than it is.

Stories are published under the byline “Lake America Desk,” the small editorial team behind LakeAmerica.blog. We do not use AI-written news copy, and we do not publish guest posts or sponsored articles about the naming change.
